    Hey there,

I'm just down south in Kemptville. I've got a similar list going for my Maxim 400.

Hey Mike, I'm actually south of the city proper in Metcalfe, not too far from you at all! Is your Maxim running/plated?

Yup, she's running well but after reading all the heads up info here I'd like to do most of the work as a prevenitve nature. I had her to a bike guy out near Perth who gave it a top to bottom and all the basics you'd do with an old bike. I've had it out several times and I'm headed out now as well. How about you?

    Hey Guys,
I'm in Osgoode, right between Kemptville and Metcalfe.
It's nice to see some of these old machines popping up in this area.

I'm in Ottawa, but I sold my Seca a few years ago. I have a few left over 650 bits you can have for free if you want them, valve stem seals, head gasket, exhaust gaskets, rubber valve cover gasket etc. I'd have thrown them out by now if I hadn't stowed them away.

If you need work done on your older Yamaha, see Rob Brown at Bytown Motorcycle repairs on Stevenage Road 613-738-7742. I get him to do all my safety inspections. He is a Yamaha mechanic from way back, and will gladly talk about bikes for hours on end if you get him when he isn't busy (which is not often!)

Hey Mac, Funny, I JUST replaced all that gear in my rebuild...i'm sure if you popped it up on the fourm someone would buy it!

Yes, I actually JUST picked up the bike from Robert on Wednesday....I had him do the valve adjustment/carb sync for me as I didn't want to much with it, nor do I have the setup/tools to do myself. He also did some other misc stuff while he had it on the hoist. Really great guy...knows his stuff for sure. Even better he didn't mock the work I did and said the bike ran strong and has lots of life left in it!

Seems we've got enough ppl in the area for a make shift gathering some evening when the weather cooperates!

Have thought about the Ride for Dad for the last 2 years, but chickened out both times. It's a long way for a 27 year old bike!

had I had the Seca back from getting the valves done in time for the Ride For Dad I surely woulda taken it!

I JUST got back from 4 days of Road Tripping on the '82 XJ 650....Friday down to Kingston from Ottawa....Saturday around Wolf Island and Picton, Sunday back to Ottawa and Monday I rode to Parry Sound with a buddy on his Triumph 1050 Sprint....the Parry Sound trip in itself was 976km and I was averaging bout 5.6L/100km!

The Seca ran very well...some minor issues I'll tend to in the winter (carb rebuild) but was VERY happy with the way she performed aside from a hard start this morning that had me stall on departure....likely carb related itself.

My bike got more looks than my buddy's Triumph! I dig it!

oh and for the record....@ 160km/h on the 400 just outside of Parry Sound, the Seca was running @ 7500rpm and I was loving it! Dumb...yes, but had to be done.

I'm here, Nepean. I used to have an 81 XJ650, but recently picked up an 83 XJ750 (54,000 km). I haven't ridden in 17 years, but used to do some sorta long hauls on the 650 (~1500 km in two days sorta rides). I plan on getting the 750 on the road in 2011, after taking the refresher courses. Then I want to do some multiday shakedown runs with the bike, me, and travel gear. If it all goes well, I'd like to do a transCanada in 2012.

    Hey Guys,

I'm in Merrickville. Bought my first bike last summer, '82 550 Maxim. Rode it most of the summer, ran like a champ. Got the itch now to do some work on it but the lack of garage is posing a problem...Just gonna have to buy a house to get that garage!
