I need someone with a running xj700 that wouldn't mind me coming over and looking at your wire harness and taking pictures. The previous owner of my bike ripped everything out and jury-rigged it.

It recently starting have major wiring-related issues, so I decided to replace the rats nest with a stock harness.

Now I can't get any spark, and I have everything connected. I don't care if you have it rigged, or stock, doesn't matter to me as long as it runs!

I'd be willing to pay a small amount if I could just see what wires go to what plugs and see what relays and such I'm missing. I've been trying to do this with the wiring diagram but it doesn't seem to help me too much.

I'm in Brunswick, GA, but my 85 XJ700N has the carbs off for cleaning and the tank is being painted. I'll be happy to take whatever pictures you need and post them or email them to you. Let me know what you need if that will help you.

Thank you so much! Been trying to get help with this for a week now lol. Basically, I need a picture of all the connections with the wire harness. Like the plastic plugs, single bullet connections, relays, ect. With the single connections id also like to see where that wire goes too. If it isnt too much extra trouble, id also like to have it labled, like in the picture name, what the plug or bullet connection or relay is. If the lable thing is too much trouble its no biggy, most important thing is to see where the wires come from and how they connect to the wire harness.

The PO of my bike decided to rip everything out and jury rig a minimal harness. I started having some pretty serious issues, like it would cut off while I was riding, so I decided to rewire it myself. Thats where i ran into trouble! All the plugs and connectors on my sub-harnessss have been cut off, so its really hard to figure out where everything goes.

Im pretty sure I have the rear harness right, theres not nearly as many connections, but the front is totally FUBAR. I would be eternally in your debt if you could do that sir!

I plan on making a little guide to this process when I get it to work and i would give huge amounts of credit to you for pictures! Seems to me that this should be a fairly common problem but there arent any faqs on what to do if all your plugs and relays are missing. Id like to be able to find missing relays by part number, but the manual doesnt list them and i cant find them on the net! If i could at least see what the darn things look like id have a better chance of finding the right replacement.

    Your awsome bro, thank you!

I have a xj700x that I'm in the final stages of recommissioning it. I had it running yesterday, but things are still not quite put back together. I know that the wiring harnesses aren't going to be identical, but they should be close. I also had to replace the harness due to the PO's handy work. I'm near UCF, send me a PM and we'll see what we can do.

Here are pictures of my 85 xj700n. I have a battery tender lead attached to the battery so you'll see the black wire attached to the battery. Everything else is stock. I don't know how to label the photos but if you have any questions let me know. Hope the pictures. I tried to rotate some of them to get them upright, but l don't think it worked.

forgot to mention, the flat white female plug in the pictures on the positive side of the battery is the plug for the wire coming from the fuel tank fuel indicator.
