I not only have pics of Apes, but drag bars in the same frame! I bought some 7/8" drag bars for my XJ and I was very happy. Well that went to hell real quick. I put them on and they blasted the tank on a mild turn. I was so mad. I decided I better use them for something. This is where you look to my shifter.

So there you have it. The Only way to use stock risers and plain jane drag bars.

The apes I made from scratch, kinda expensive to make after all is said and done. After throttle and brake were adapted, it was smooth sailin'. Remarkably easy and comfortable to ride.

I just posted some pics of my bike with drag bars (sort of). They are 1" Sporty bars which required a riser to attach the Sporty risers to. This adapter also raised the bars allowing them to clear the lifted gas tank. I welded 7/8" stubs onto the ends of the 1" bars so I could use the original Yamaha controls.

I have a pair of handlebars off of a Goldwing on mine. They are the same demensions as mini-apes. I mounted them on my own 4" homemade risers.

Here is a pic of the ones on my Maxim-X chopper. Along with the 4" risers, I find them more comfortable than the stock bars...my opinion only.

    Johno8,
I love the chrome risers and high bars on your bike. I agree about the comfort factor. With the higher bars, forward controls with mini floorboards, it is a totally different feeling and a hell of alot more comfortable than stock.
I didn't ride my bike as often when I had the stock bars, controls and seat. After I finished the lowering, forward controls and higher bars on it, I'm on it at every excuse to ride. It's a totally different riding experience for sure. Everyone who sits on it or rides it agrees.

You and I have done the same thing wrt fwd controls and handlebars...it's the way to go. Looking at that picture, how did you mount your controls and mini-floorboards? I'm about to haul off my brackets to make a full size template as there are a number of folks who've pm'd me for it. Just curious to see what you did. Your bike looks awesome dude!
