I thought about trying one of those style seats but I don't think they will fit like you think. It looks like the bottom of the seat is flat. There is a hump like you said in the frame of the bike plus the rear fender comes up even higher, and with the flat bottom of that seat it wont sit flat on the bike. I could be wrong but that's my impression. If you look at the stock seat at least mine on the 650 maxim there is a hump in the seat pan to match the frame/and fender. I'm sure you could modify it to work but it's not gonna be a easy bolt on.

@XJ550H what kind of mods were required for that to work? I guess I'm looking for a semi-bolt on solution. I don't mind putting some work into it, I'd rather not mess with the frame though.

you have to make a plate to bring the gas tank mount back, it would bolt into current location and go back a few inches to line up with seca tank. leave reflectors on and tank will not push to far forward to be concerened with bars hitting tank.

the front seat mount from the max can be used on seca seat and use a velcro strap back through the chain box
but it is easier to add nylon/plastic wire hold downs on the side to use as a hinge

[IMG][IMG]it leaves a gap above side covers

Hi, I can see this is an old post but hoping to resurrect it! I need a Seca seat but they're like hen's teeth in the UK! From the above photo would I be right in saying that the Maxim and Seca frames are the same? Maxim seats are plentiful here, wonder what a Maxim seat would look like on a Seca? What other seats could I look at that might fit my Seca!

Frames are different I'm afraid. Maxim seat is stepped and would look poor. Try searching ebay Germany quite a few 550 parts on there.

the maxim seat fills the gap in the side covers that you can see in the photo.
seca seat is hinged in place the maxim seat uses rubber straps that connect in the chain box on the rear (in photo behind seat) and a bracket that slips under maxim tank
maxim tank is shorter than a seca tank
