You might have to fab intake manifolds to fit your bike but the carbs are standard fare Mic's used on my Kaw triples. These carbs would greatly cut what you are now flowing with your stock 32's...see what I mean? Right now you have 4-32mm carbs. Why go to two 34mm carbs? Yes, the VM's flow more then the 32CV's but it's still a big cut. You could probably find a different manifold setup from the same manufacture as this kit and they might even have something specifically for your bike. You'll also find, with a bit of research that VM carbs are pretty cheap. For this kit, you are paying for the manifolds that might not even work.

hope you find a setup you like, and works....

I found the same kind of setup on the Honda 750 forum a few years ago. There are places that make and sell them for the 2-into-1 carb setup that is said to work very well. It would simplify things a bit with only two carbs instead of four for sure.

You would have to make an intake manifold. Manifold plus carbs behind
    means not much room.

Is it a DOHC motor that redlines at 10K rpm?

VM carbs vs what the CV guys go through, YES, VM carbs are a dream in comparison.

I only questioned why anyone would want to reduce the overall ability of an engine to breath, not whether it could be made to run or not.

Most guys it seems, are bent on increasing the breathing, not restricting it. Note that I didn't say this was necessarily a bad thing, just different to what I hear most of the time.

Way back in the day Mikunis were a hot setup on Harleys, also side draft Webers. It was an improvement but was it worth it?

I just bought a kit for my 700 and in the process of installing. The manifold wont work on XJs because of how the head is made. If you look closely at the manifolds you'll see that one leg on each manifold is slightly longer because the Honda has a stepped head surface, so you will have to fab your own like I'm doing. The kit will work fine if your cruzing around, wouldn't recommend for a sport bike unless you go with 4 32mm VM carbs. The kit you found is sold by CycleX and cost 500.00, I bought the XS Yamaha kit (without the manifolds) for 400.00.

Another reason I'd like to go back to an XS 650 instead of my Seca. The older bikes didn't perform near what mine does, but it's not all about performance as it is practicality and simplicity. Twins are better/easier to work on than 4 cylinders and they sound so much better too.

CycleX has kits for Harleys and Triumphs as well. The reason I got this kit was for the simplicity and the ability to make mods to the exhaust and air filters (pods or velocity stacks) without the PITA of the current carb setup. I might loose some top end performance but I'm just crusing around so I don't need it to blast everybody else away. Putting 4 VM carbs on would make it scream and be easier to adjust because of their simplicity, but be ready to spend some bucks for a rack of these babies unless you find some on CL or Ebay.
