    are your handle bars stock?
have you checked out the length of 82/83 750 maxim cables? or 700x and 750 x cables just look in www.xj4ever.com catalog he can also advise you on fitment of ends email him and ask

your choke cable Aftermarket CHOKE CABLE, for all XJ700 non-X (air cooled) models. Wire length = 35".
    cables that will fit
Group 2): all XJ650 models, all XJ700 models, all XJ750 models (except XJ750RL), and XJ1100 models.
    .
HCP17897 Aftermarket CHOKE CABLE, for all XJ750 Maxim and Midnight Maxim models. Wire length = 37-7/8".

HCP2717 OEM original CHOKE CABLE, for all XJ1100 models. Wire length = 49".
HCP17887 Aftermarket CHOKE CABLE, for all XJ1100 models. Wire length = 47-1/2".

this shows many cables are longer than your cables , so are throttle and clutch cables

INTERCHANGE: most throttle cables (except 1984-85 FJ600, 1992-98 XJ600 Seca II, and XJ700 all models cables) will interchange with each other, as they mainly differ in their overall wire and sheathing length. When swapping handlebars, you may find the need to use a shorter or longer cable than original. The XJ650RJ Seca, XJ750 Seca, and XJ1100 cables have a narrower cable end barrel (1/4" wide vs. 5/16" wide for all other cables) which may present an issue on some interchanges. Additionally, all of the XJ550 model cables and all of the XJ650 model cables (except Turbo) use a bent metal tube end at the throttle, while all other models use a plastic tube with a thumb-screw adjuster.
