    Lets try again...

Only one needs to fit inside the bucket. It's a bi-xenon (both high and low beam)

I don't think you could. You need to fab up a new headlight bucket. I'm thinking something rectangular. That way, you can fit both in side-by-side. If you make it deep enough, you'll still have room for all your existing wiring. You'd need to make provisions for the pivot bolts on the side and the lower aiming clamp. It would be a chore, but doable. I'm thinking paint the housing flat black so all you really see are those two eyes looking back at you.

Do you have some dimensions or a ruler you could lay next to these both width and depth? Looks like fitting one in would not be the problem but rather how to make a lens that looks good and protects them from moisture would be the chore. Are they flat on the back? How much juice do they require?

The power consumption is actually quite low.
80 watts startup (apprx 6 seconds) and 50 watts continuous. The high beam is created by just moving a shutter and letting more light off the bulb so no additional wattage there, maybe just a small servo or electromagnet, not really sure on the function of the shutter.

Silly question...is the headlight lens plastic? You MAY be able to cut it to fit the Xenon bulb in it....

You have to remove the "?imgmax=512" bit or the forum doesn't think they are actually images.

Dang you don't mess around do you LOL! Wow they looked smaller in the first pic. So what I get is just over 6" 6 and an 1/8th or so Now I see where you are coming from. The good news you have mounting holes on them. I would first mock up a mount to fit the mounting holes, Measure what you have depth wise on your bike(I have a maxim not sure if they are the same). I would see what you have dimension wise for depth at the stock setup and see what you need. After you have some of that done see how much room you have to go Backwards(toward the tank) If possible as above I would try to keep the front of the headlight lens in tact if it will take the heat and bump the back of the bucket out. Depending on what you need for room you may even be able to make up some brackets and move the bucket forward a inch or so if need be. My thinking is tho that the stock lens is not clear but with the what to call it headlight pattern on the lens. That may obscure your beam from the HID. Is the bucket a weldable metal that you could mig some mounting tabs on or not? That is gonna take alot of time to fit in the stock bucket and make it look good.

It pays to have a friend in the bodyshop. You let him know what your trying to do and he calls you a few weeks later with a luxury car that suffered a front end whack and has a donor bi-xenon that would otherwise end up in the trash.

Now the hard part (ideas are so easy) is getting it inside a stock xj650RJ bucket.

I like the idea of bumping out the back of the bucket. I'll have to look closer when I get back to the bike for room etc. I wonder (this is never good) if the lens would come off the front without disturbing the hi/low shutter and I could just use the stock reflector and 8" lens?

I'll let everyone know what I find out.

I'm really thinking you could have some sweet looking lights there. Especially if you are trying to fit them in the bucket. The bucket on my maxim is steel and is chrome plated. I'm thinking that your car buddy is going to be your savior on this project. Here is what I would do, but again, this is just my preference. I would make a bracket to hold the lights together side to side. I'd then take the stock bucket and cut out the back whatever was needed to fit the lights in there. With the help of your car buddy, form some metal to then cover up the holes you just made. spot weld those in place, and keep working at it till it is nice and smooth. I've seen pepole do wonders with old metal bowls for a thrift store. I'd then take a steel dish or plate and cut it to the inside diameter of the healdight ring and weld that in place. Take a good sized hole saw bit and cut holes for the lenses to protrude out of. I had a hard time reading the guage (poor eyesight) so I'm not even sure that they would fit side to side in a stock bucket. In that case you'll need a lot more fabrication to make your own bucket and bracket. I'd draw a picture, but It would most likely suck as I don't have any good software on this computer.
