Anyone use the Nolan N30 helmet?

    Hey y'all.

I'm looking at the Nolan N30 series of retro helmets to use when I ride my old bikes. Has anyone out there in XJ land tried them?

    http://nolanhelmets.com/n30.htm

From the looks of the shape of the faceshield, I also think they would work well when you don't have a windshield. I'm tired of my 1/2 helmets catching air and riding to the back of my hair challenged head.

They also appear to be a bit "rounder" shaped, with a lower forehead lip than today's 3/4 helmets. Perfect for riding without a windshield. I guess I'm used to seeing the old guys on the Brit bikes riding without windshields.

And I wear glasses, and don't always want to remove them while I put on my full face helmets.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thanks.

    Rusty

Sorry, Man, I wear a Shoei RF-1000 full-face helmet. I don't compromise on head protection.

I know helmets aren't 100% protection, but a well designed full-face exceeding SNELL 2005 specs may give me a better chance.

While I don't like a 3/4 helmet, I gotta say that is a nice neck roll on the model you are looking at!

Totally agree with the fullfaced helmets. I like protection. And, even after 40 years of riding, I still wear my ear plugs and gloves all of the time.

It's just these glasses I gotta deal with.

OK, I gotta ask... when did everyone start wearing ear plugs??

I never have, and never saw any of my riding buddies do it either, in the last 30 years!

So, did I not get the e-mail? It seems that just within the last year, I am hearing of everyone wearing ear plugs. It makes perfect sense, I just don't ever remember anyone doing it before.

Now, I have an intercom system in my helmet, how do the ear plugs affect that?

Have I got an option for you. The new Zeus ZS-3000 series helmets are a modular style with a removable chin-bar - giving you a "Jet style" 3/4 helmet with shield.

And, as a first, the ZS-3000 is SNELL approved:

For those of us who don't give a damn about SNELL, the even better version has graphics if you want them, and an integrated pair of sunglasses:

Both easily convert to the 3/4 style helmet.

Here's the WebBike review on the lid:

I'm planning on trying one of these at the Toronto Motorcycle show in January (if I can find one).
