I located a 1980 Xj550 Seca (1981 maybe ?) for $120, no headlight and rear brake froozen, haven't actually looked at it yet. Just emailed the owner to see if i can see it. Was wondering if many of the parts are interchangeable with the 1980 Xj650 maxim ? Perhaps instrument cluster, disc brakes and hand controls ? Would it be worth parting out, doesn't seem like the owner wants too ... Could always look are rebuilding I guess, but is it worth it ?.

For $120, grab it regardless. you'll make plenty on the parts alone if you part it. But, don't part it--it a rare bike. Talk to BigFitz...............

To the point, there are a FEW parts that will interchange with the 650 maxim but not much. If you're looking at it as a donor, don't. Look at it instead, as a reaaallly good price for a not-easy-to-find bike. Again, talk to BigFitz......

Brakes different, instruments can be swapped (but not fully) SOME of the hand controls, but some not.

If it's relatively complete, it's worth resurrecting (or parting out if you insist.) But not a lot will transfer to your Max.

    I agree with Dave.

Oh, and it's an '81 if it shows it was made in 1980. The 550 Secas were 1981 ~ 1983 here in North America.

I recommend restoration if at all possible.
