Here's the story: Wanted a bike since I was a kid, so at 31 I finally decided to do it. $600 for an '82 Seca650. There's a dent in the top of the tank the size of my head an it'll cost a fortune to get it pulled. Trouble is, I can't find a tank for my year and model anywhere. The closest I can get is an '81 seca tank that looks right, but I can't be too sure from pics on ebay. Will that tank fit my bike?

The tanks off the 81 to 83 650 Seca's will fit. They are the only ones that will. So don't try the tank off the 750 or a Maxim.

Thanks, BlueMaxim. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

The '82 XJ650RJ Seca tank is unique to that model in appearance and design.

The XJ650 and XJ750 Maxim tanks will FIT, but will not look at all "right" on your bike.

The XJ750 Seca tanks will also fit, and will give you a larger capacity, and are style kinda similar to a a 650 Seca tank . I've never seen one actually installed on a 650 Seca so I can't speak for the appearance factor, but all the Seca tanks have the "crushed inwards" rear area that is very similar in design.
