    Probably not.

'80~'83 were the original 650 Maxims; the 750s were '81~'83. By 1985 the Maxim was a 700 and/or an "X" which being water-cooled had a completely different frame. Dunno about the later aircooled Max's.

The only possible MAYBE would be a mis-titled 82 bike that was first sold in 85. But realistically probably NO .

Do you have coils up at your steering neck (85)
Those later Maxims seem to have a more radical slope to the frame, and would not be the same for swapping most parts.
There's still a slew of parts that will inter-swap.

Big86 - post up some VIN numbers for accurate advise.

Actually no, none of the '85s are even close to the earlier bikes. Both the "airhead" and the "X" have the removable right-side section and a tube that appears to run under the middle of the motor.

Remember the year range I mentioned above; by 1985, the Maxims had the next-generation 700cc motor, both air and water-cooled.

    Completely different.
