I'm back!! Been a while, but it feels good to be back in the XJ community. Sold my old 650 about 2 years ago, just grabbed an '82 750 Maxim that needs a starter clutch. I've already done some work on this bike, we rebuilt the whole top end (belonged to a friend of mine) and then when we put it back together, the starter clutch went. Long story short, the bike is mine now, I'll be bringing it home next week sometime. Sure will feel good to ride again, although I will say, part of the reason I sold my old bike was because I didn't have time to ride. I'm still not sure I'm going to have time to ride, but at least I'll have something TO ride if I get the chance. 8)

Time to ride is essential. If I go too long without a good solid ride then I will even take a day off work to ride and have someone fill in. I'll ride on my break. I'll get up an hour earlier than normal just to ride. But I know how time can be a damper at times. Glad to hear you got some wheels again and can get your nose in the wind.

Nice to see back with a bike. Good luck on the fix and, for God's sake find the time. It's good for the soul.

I bought mine right and owe nothing on it so I guess I don't have to feel guilty if I can't get out as often as I would like. I doubt I would ever get rid of my XJ again. Lesson learned.

Glad you're back! Went without 2 wheels for more than 30 years. Always knew I was missing something, just not how MUCH...

Amen brother! I make time somehow to ride everyday summer & winter, no snow or ice. For me it's therapy. When I ride I give the experience my total concentration in order to keep it upright and between the stripes and to dodge the errant cages.

It helps that my main ride has a 6 CD changer with an IPOD input so I don't even have to mess with the tunes between 300 mile gas stops!

Welcome back to the riding club!

Thanks for the welcome guys!! Yeah, I'll definetly make time to ride, I just told my wife about it tonight, wasn't sure how she'd feel about it. But, she was cool with it. She never had a problem with me riding before, her only concern was the same as mine, about having time to ride. I'm starting back in school in the spring, will be going for a Business Management bachelors (something I should have done after high school), and I'm working 2 jobs. But, in a lot of ways, I need the bike even MORE now. One of the best ways in the world to relax IMO, and I'm sure most people on this site will agree... :D

xulf13, thanks for the offer, but I think I'll just buy the new stuff. If I'm gonna go through the trouble of splitting the case, I don't want to have to do it again. Also, I have a bunch of spare parts left over from my 650 stuff, so if you need anything give me a shout (and I'll do likewise!). I used to be in the Franklinton area all the time, back in 2002 my race car shop was up there.
