Last fall I traded my XVZ1300 for an XJ1100 that looked to be in pristine condition. It has been sitting for almost 20 years in a climate controlled garage. It has damage to the tank and one turn signal from something falling against it.

I brought it home and the first thing my wife said is "That one's mine" then walks back in the house... :D

Yes those are the original miles.

Well after sitting for several more months I cleaned the carbs, replaced all the fluids, new battery, rebuilt the petcocks, changed the tires and replaced the broken turn signal.

This is what she looks like now...

I still need to fix some cosmetic stuff (tank, seat, some surface rust) but she is back on the street, its the smoothest bike I have ever ridden.

Holly smokes, not even due for the first valve check. That's awesome! You may want to add the brake lines to the "to do" list. Very sweet ride!

I do plan on replacing the brake lines soon. Everything looks as if it just came from the show room! I know looks can lead to brake failure!!:( I also will be rebuilding the calipers even though they are working flawlessly. I've had a bike that the brakes would lock up after a 10 mile ride with now warning.

I love those slotted front rotors. Anyone know if a set/a front wheel from one of those will go on my '82 650 Seca?

I think although I'm not positive the 750 secs rotors should fit, I have been thinking of doing that upgrade as well as the 750 rotors are slotted.

The XJ1100 has Disc breaks on the rear so no worry's there.

My wife stared out on a Suzuki 125 then moved to an XJ750 and now to the XJ1100. the 1100 has plenty of power but not so much that it is un-tamable. ;)
Now I just need to finish my XJ1100...:)

I'm not sure haw that happened. It was like that when I took it apart to clean it. So far it does not seem to affect how the bike is running. I do have a spare set of carb bodies so I may replace it in the future.

Don't bother unless it causes problems - curious though..

Whoops! Guess I should have noticed the disc in the picture. Oh well, if it brings more eyes to that thread, it's a good thing!
