By using my 2 XJ700's I have determined that the motor starter on the bike that I want to keep has gone bad. The battery is reading over 12V, the continuity of the negative terminal and the engine cover is good, and the motor starter relay is good. Yet, the motor starter won't work.

The odd part is that it just worked a few days ago. Now it does nothing. Is there some way of fixing the motor starter, or do you just throw it out?

you can get it rebuilt which is prob around the same price as a used one. depends on your time line, if you need now then buy used.

i bet of you take it apart and put it back together it might magically fix itself... at least thats how electronics work for me.
