Shouldn't be a problem, I believe there's kits available for this purpose that have ring terminals for the battery end & a panel mount quick-connect plug for the charger...

Welcome by the way, please have a quick look at the links in my signature regarding brake shoes etc when you have a moment :)

My charger actually came with the quick connect with ring terminals that attach to the battery. I stuff the quick connect end behind the side cover when not in use so you can't see it. When I need to hook it up I just reach up in and pull it down. Don't even have to remove side cover...very convenient.

You mean how to get the back wheel off? Simplicity friend, easier than a chain drive (unless you have a 550, then it IS chain lol, could you add your bike to your signature too please so we know what data applies if you need help with anything)

On the shaft drive models (most) you just undo the brake adjuster until it comes off the end of the rod, remove the bolt from the torque arm from the drum, remove the nut from the axle & withdraw it noting how the spacer fits on the right side, and finally "walk" the wheel off the splines... :)

Good move getting the service manual though, it's essential if you haven't worked on bikes before & very useful if you have. Some people lately have tried to use the forum as a replacement for the manual & it didn't work too well lol :D

Temperingloser, my bike sits in the garage connected to a battery tender, 1.25 amp maintenance charge.

I fitted it two years ago and have had no problems at all..

Good luck with the freebie though and welcome to the site.

Some Trickle Chargers come with a Pigtail that can be attached to the Battery to enable the Charger to be hooked-up very quickly.

If it was an SAE plug the exposed terminal is supposed to be connected to battery negative.

If you get a photobucket profile & upload your pics there you can just copy the IMG link from there into your post & the pic shows fine ;)

Watch your battery voltage over the next few months. Even a gel cell will have it's working life shortened once it's allowed to fully discharge. In my experience you can expect about another year of service life from the date of the full discharge.

Gel cell's are too touchy with total discharge and all. Spend a little more and get a good battery The agm is much more tolerant to total discharge without hurting life span !

Power Patrol brand, even sounds like quality, HaHaHa
so the key on and total discharge was my own dumb fault. if it lasts a year for 30$ and i get another that's still cheaper than a wet cell, and it doesn't drip acid.
the last ones were 2 12v 7ah in parallel, they lasted 3 years and weren't really bad, now they run the garage radio
