    Members,

Got a question...last fall while I was cleaning my carbs I found a bent diaphram spring in carb#1. I tried to unbend the spring but it wouldn't compress worth a d@mn. I replaced the spring (Len). I've been curious every since and whenever I see fuel issue threads as to how would a bent spring above the diaphram affect air/fuel in/through a carb? I'm thinking if the diaphram doesn't lift and drop the slide as needed the air/fuel in/through that carb would be amiss.

Unless it was BADLY bent, I wouldn't worry about it.....rather judiciously rebend here and there to get the same height again as the others. If it was really bad, I'd rob one out of a parts rack.

    hogfiddles,

Thanks man, I replaced it. My question is...if someone had a bent spring and didn't know it how would it effect the carb?

If the (straightened) spring ended up with less tension, the (1) slider would rise higher, which would both pull the slider needle up higher, and kill some of the venturi's velocity. That carb would behave different.

I would guess leaner with less tension.
