    Hey guys,

I've been reading different methods on running Seafoam through the engine. In plain English, what's the best way on getting Seafoam directly into the carbs as opposed to running it through the gastank?

The can suggests dumping it into the carbs, letting it sit for a few minutes, starting the engine and standing back. Being a noob, how do I dump it into the carbs? Via the air filter under the seat?

Anyone have some good pics? The pics on the XJCD for the vacuum lines leave a little to be desired.

    Thanks,

    Corey

Turn the gas tank to the normal run position. Unhock the fuel line behind the filter and attach a length of house 2-3' long. Put the hose onto the end of a funnel.

Drain each carb bowl. ( Put a foot long peice of hose onto the drain spigot, turn the drain screw out. Catch the gas in a small containter and look for debris. Some bits are normal, alot isn't.)

With the carbs empty, hold the funnel above the carbs, slowly pour in the seafoam. You can spin the engine over now if you want to get the seafoam through everthing. Just top up the carbs when you've done that so that they're nice and full.

Leave it like that overnight, or what ever the directions say.

Drain the bowls into a container again... letting the crud out.

Reconnect the gas line, and set the petcock to prime.

Put away the hose, and come back to the bike. It might take a second or two to start.

Just one method... although most people just mix it with the last part of their gas tank to get a higher concentration - and then turn the bike off in their garage. Top up the fuel tank and take it for a ride the next day to get the system back to normal levels.

In plain Engish?? IMO, Don't bother.
If you really wanna 'clean' yer top end? Pour some diesel into yer gas a litre or 2 run for a week and repeat if you feel the need. You can also use ATF.. same drill.
Best is Water but that like the SeaFoam crap you do have to add to the intake manifold on our bikes individually at each Va nipple on the intakke boots. A pain but it works.
See the previous Sea Foam postings.

I use a radiator overflow catch can. Any bike ... or even RV style available at autoparts place will work.
Mix it and disconnect fuel line and connect it in. I put chemtool and other stuff too sometimes, but seafoam is the shnitz ... Running with seafoam is what cured my max X.
    Cool.
