Got a quick questions for you guys that traded the stock front tire for a bigger tire. I don't mean a larger diameter wheel but a fatter tire. My question is How does a fatter tire affect the bike handling characteristics? From a pure physics point of view I would have to assume that it would make the bike more stable (fatter tire = more weight = more stability due to centrifugal forces) But my little amateur physics might very well be out in the left field. So if any of you guys went throught the mod for a fatter tire I would appreciate getting your assessment. Was it worth it and how did it affect handling. Looking forward to your replies.

I'm riding with a 130/90-16 on the front and I haven't really noticed a difference in handling, better or worse.

I have heard that putting a fatter tire on your stock rims will actually diminish the contact patch the tire has with the ground creating less traction. That could easily be up for debate though.

I think unless you're on it hard all the time it won't make much difference.
    On a sportbike it might.

How MUCH fatter? My Secas both have 100/90-19 fronts, stock is 90/90 and they're fine. I wouldn't get TOO radical and exceed the recommended tire width for your rim, but one or two sizes should be ok.

i have a xj 700 with a 110/90 and it dose work. but you do notice a little bit of a difference. only in very slow manuvering like parking or pulling out while turning. it seem heavier. its because, i cant think of the right term right now, the wheel is more of a balloon and the geometry of the tire isnt matched to the bike. and on a bike like these it really isnt a big deal. its not gunna make you crash or anything. you would have to be hauling booty on a track or a road like us129 for the real difference to be made. they talk about it more on like streetbike forums.
