So I'm pretty new to the scene so have patience. I have an '81 XJ750 Seca and I wired in new LED rear blinkers and discovered they wouldn't flash so I took to the message boards. There I learned that I need a variable load flasher relay and so I went to pick one up and install it today and after everything was said and done I went to start it up to do an oil change and nothing happened. Literally you press the button and then nothing. After connecting the flasher relay I tried out the signals and they worked, then I wired up my headlight and put everything back together, tried them again and only one side works. The only thing I can think of that I may have done wrong is trim some of the connectors off of the unused wires that went to the Atari box. Please help.

Nothing as in no spinning the starter, zero zippy zilch?

Taillight come on when ignition switched on?

    "OFF/RUN/OFF switch in "off?"

If the taillight comes on when you turn the ignition on, but get no action from the starter button, it generally indicates the safety circuit has "deployed." It thinks it's in gear with the sidestand down.

Gotta be careful just cutting wires. You may have inadvertently clipped a diode-block connection or done some other damage to the circuitry causing the bike to think you're breaking the safety interlocks so it won't start.

The first and best thing to do would be to locate a wiring and circuit diagram for your bike. If it were a pre-YICS 650 or a 550, I could help but I don't have any depth in 750 reference materials.

I think I'll refer to the simple wiring diagram that I book marked while surfing this site. Thanks for the help! And if it makes any difference I also noticed that my right hand signal does not turn on or blink anymore, while my left one works perfectly. And I made sure not to touch any of the wires that weren't needed for wiring my new speedometer up and I made darn sure I didn't cut any of the diodes! This sucks. I was thinking I would finally get to re-jet my carbs this weekend and ride it.

Er me gherd it was one stupid wire! I saw it when I took of the tank to replace the flasher relay. It was frayed and looked like it would come apart but for whatever reason I didn't think to correct it then and there. Thankfully no need to resort to tearing it down to the simple wiring! For now.... Thanks again for the input though, every bit helps.
