Bill Schmitt Card Ride organizational thread!

It seems there is some talk about getting the package delivered to Dave and Bill's family. Bill's family is requesting that the card make its journey as planned across this great country- by bike, of course- to be signed by and photoed with each member that carries it.

With Jon laid up with a broken __________ (I am going with a hangnail :lol: ), I think it's essential that we work together to get the card to Dave on 9/5 in NC as he rides with Bill's club.
I know Jon had a list of riders as well as places that the card will hit on its journey, but I never really heard much about who/what/where. I think most of us only know the "why", right?

If you are willing to ride, still, and asked to carry the card and were selected, please post in here so we can make this happen. Please provide from where to where that you will ride. we can work on a map and dates from there.
Also, could someone please tell us where the card made it to if it made it at all.
Can we even get the card across the country in 3 weeks?
we need input on this if anyone is serious about doing it!

Nursepadawan and I will make the Grand Rapids to Metro Detroit Run.

 

I've got commitments from not only MadMaxim85 and NursePadawan but enough members to cover from the Chicago area, through SE Michigan via Carl's shop and then down to Northern Ohio and I believe as far as Akron (I'll have to go back and check.) I'll have to sort through the emails and get it all in one place.

 

I'm in from Benton Harbor to Grand Rapids. I think Lowlifexj and I were gonna partner-up for that leg...

 

Thanks for the replies! I am covering KC to Columbia, Mo. unless Jon can't ride. If he cant, I will take Omaha to Columbia (against my wife's wishes)

 

We Washington State area riders will be getting together this Sunday. On the agenda will be a card signing for Bill's family. From the meet up, the card will make its way down through Oregon and California. I suspect that once it has made its way as far south as it can go, the card will be mailed in to the family.

 

Akron Ohio here! Can carry it east to Pittsburgh, or south to ... ???

I can meet you in Sandusky, Ohio and carry to grutz in Akron. If Sandusky won't work for you let me know a better spot.

not much free time but if somebody needed a short jump near pittsburgh then hit me with when and where and i'll let you know if it's do-able for me.

I hope you call on me, I can cover from Chi through to east. My zip is 49117.
Really though I don't want to ride I-94 through Lake County Indiana, because it's bumper to bumper semi's @ 70 mph. Deathtrap for bikers. There are other routes around the city.

Fitz, I am in Cincinnati and can cover a 150+ miles. Maybe more if needed

 

mirco, proto, Rob; had you guys down already for my section of the midwest. I'm pulling together everything I had from before, and will get with Jon as soon as he can type. Meanwhile once I have everything in one place, I'll post my "roster." Jon had it as far as the Chicago area, I had Chicago to Akron via Michigan covered so I'll have to get that list posted. We could expand it a bit too. Then we'll have to figure out where to go after Akron, instead of dropping straight down to NC.

Don, get with JonMarkos; post here; no reason to mail it. We have enough XJ Express riders to relay it. Get it as far as you can and we'll find riders to fill in the leg to get it up into the western midwest, and it was already well-planned from there.

8O You Guys are awsome... Lets not let the date of 9/5 be the deal breaker on completing this relay. I will gladly trailer from Florida to NC and run out to meet someone when the card is ready. I will see if his group can schedule the "aviation" ride to correspond with this, if not my priority will be the delivery of this card to my brothers family. I will make the ride with his group another time if need be. The support and effort of the relay card, its meaning and compassionate from Bill's XJBiker family will carry our family and be a major source of stregnth for along time, whenever it arrives. On a personal note, this is just something I NEED TO DO & BE A PART OF.

I live almost in the middle of Colorado, 2 miles south of I-70. I'm willing to head west to eastern Utah or east towards Nebraska. I could also head south to New Mexico. I could head north towards Wyoming, but I haven't heard anybody from there type on this thread. Or any combination thereof. Colorado is a big state.

The problem: I only have weekends to ride.

Let me know if there is someone to meet and where to carry the card to next.
