blocking off "prime"

    is it ok to block off the "prime" out and use it for an "off" position

    It's ok, but if the vacuum system still works you'll have a though time getting it fired back up if you ever drain the carbs.

    If mine ever fails I plan to look seriously at removing the vacuum valve, making PRI off, and having RUN and RES available to fill the carbs.

    Ah, now this is something I've been thinking of myself. The difference is, I was planning to block up RES to make it the OFF position. Because PRI (I think) sucks gas from the bottom of the tank just like RES so PRI and RES is only seperated by the vaccum off function.

    If the tank is that low then there's less pressure on the needle valves as the tank does not have a full head of gas to force them open.

    But, I was going to block off RES inside the petcock. Maybe fill the RES channel with lead or solder and polish smooth.
