Hi everyone, I'm just starting out modifying a 1981 yamaha xj550h maxim that I have had for several years into a bobber. I've rebuilt the carbs, painted, bought new drag bars, etc. But now I've run into problems installing the seat. I can't find a bobber solo seat installation kit for the xj models so assume I need to do it myself. The fabrication and such isn't a problem, but if anyone could give me a short walkthrough or point me toward any existing threads on the subject it would be extremely helpful. I just don't want to start cutting into the back of the bike without a thorough knowledge of where to go from there with the installation. Thanks!

I searched "bobber seat" using the forums' search function (top right corner, below XJ4Ever logo)
It came up with a few:

This one is a really well done fab job, just don't go past page one. It descends into a bit of a hen-peck:

There's a way to use google to search this forum, but I don't remember it. Hopefully someone more savvy will remind me...

Thanks for the reply! Those are very helpful, some of the close up pictures gave me ideas. I've been searching the forums for hours and came up with nothing.
