    Howdy,

For the past few days I have been trying to fill some dings and dents on my gas tank. I started by removing all the paint and got the tank down to the bare metal. I have been trying to fill them up with bondo but for some reason I can't sen to get a smooth layer and when I sand it down I end up with high spots and valleys. I am using a sanding block but that does not seem to help.

Any tips on how to do this would be much appreciated, I am a bit frustrated by now and I am considering saving my time and go to a body shop to get it done.

use a nice flat stick about 2 inches wide and 18 inches long and glue a full length of paper to it(11 inches). use the same primer your going to paint with to find high and low spots. work it from all directions. you'll feel more than you can see

Thanks Polock, the sanding pad I started using is about two inches thick but only about 6 inches long. I will give it a try again.
