I have a 550 maxim with mikunis and it obviously does not have drain nipples. I tried sticking some tubing in that is recommended in the service manual(don't remember size off the top of my head) and it seems a bit loose. Now I know you can buy aftermarket nipples to put in from chacal, but is it possible to do it without using those? I'm on a tight budget with this bike. Also I noticed in the informational thread on wet setting he used a PVC carb stand. Anyone know off the top of there head what size PVC he used. I don't have my carbs off yet and wanted to get the stuff before I tear it apart. Any info helps!
    Thanks a bunch

I made my own from aquarium tubing.

Bend a piece of electrical house wiring or a coat hanger in an "L", slide the tubing over the "L". Heat the tubing with a hair dryer or heat gun until it's soft and rubbery, then quench it in cold water....it will harden in the "L" shape. Take the horizontal end, heat it until soft and rubbery, and insert into the float bowl opening, allow to cool. Presto....fuel level tube. Fab up some sort of hanger to hold it in place as I did.
It's not the greatest, but it's cheap.

Before I got the aftermarket nipples, I made one of these up; they work fine until the cap wears and doesn't seal that well anymore. This will tide you over, but I would recommend you save your pennies and get the aftermarket nipples when you can. It makes the task much easier.

Aye, that I do. That can be found here:

Take a 2-Inch length of Rubber Gas Line.
Push it onto the Shaft of a Phillips Screwdriver.
Chuck the Screwdriver into your drill.
    Spin it.
Sand a Tapered end on the Hose.
The Parts are dirt cheap, ... so make 4 of them!

    Fit a Right-angled Hose Union.
    Add the Clear Vinyl.

If you sculpt the Taper just right, ... it fits the Port and won't leak.
