Brake problem

    I've narrowed my front brake problem to the master cylinder. I've ordered the re-build kit, and will re-build as soon as I can.

    I saw some mentions here of a pictorial on this site demonstrating the re-build process, but I'm danged if I can find it. Does anyone have a link to that page?

    Hi, I did a quick lookup of your previous posts, so I could find out what bike you have. (Put it in your posts, or better yet, in your sig.)
    I don't know if there's a pictorial guide on here, but I can say the rebuild process is pretty simple.
    1. buy kit
    2. disassemble, carefully noting the orientation of parts as they come out. Take pics if possible. There's not many parts.
    3. clean carefully, removing all gunk, crud, & scale. Make sure the tiny opening is not blocked, this is in the bottom and is needed for back pressure relief after applying brakes.
    4. put back together in same order, apply clean brake fluid to seals to ease insertion.
    5. bleed - good luck here!
    6. Note- when I bled mine, I had a hard time getting a firm brake lever again, so I kept bleeding and bleeding and bleeding. I could see the piston on the Master cylinder moving out and in but it wasn't grabbing the rotor very tight at all even though I was pretty sure the air was out of the system.. Then I adjusted the screw on the brake lever and that was the cure, because I wasn't fully pushing the piston in the MC! (DUH)
    Now I have a firm brake lever and loads more stopping power than before the rebuild.
