82 750 maxim...This has been doing this for a while now I pull my front brake on and no warning light, but if I press my foot brake the warning light will come on and soon as I let off the brake pedal it goes off does anybody have an idea of how to fix this ? I can have both brakes on and the light comes on.

that is the fluid level sensor in the mc, Is mc full?

could be sensor float is failing or wire connector in bucket is loose

I suspect you mean "TAIL" warning when you press the brake, which then causes the red warning light to flash until the failure is cleared. Check your front brake and make sure it is illuminating the brake lights, I suspect it is not. Then check the rear brake, does it light the brake lights? The Maxim CMS if functioning correctly needs just over one amp for a safe condition when the brake is depressed. If anything other that stock bulbs have been installed that could be the problem.

You are correct the tail warning light. The mc is full and still clear from my replacing the front brake lines. I pull the front brake both bulbs light up in the back no warning light. I push the pedal, both bulbs light up in the back and the tail warning light comes on, I release the pedal and the warning light goes off.

check the bulbs and sockets of the tail light the sensor checks to see if filiments are broken would also hapen with dirty sockets.

that would be a different connector in the atari Y/b and L/w wires

MC would not affect tail light check

it should. but mine did it sometimes with front and sometimes with back with a rev of the throttle sometimes putting light out.
if you have the proper bulbs and sockets are clean I would check out the charging system and battery . resistance needed at 12 volts to get 1 amp and 14 volts is different.
could be the drop in voltage combined with the use when decelerating trips the warning light.

brake light is yellow wires tail light is blue wires
page 31 and 32 of fsm shows circuits

    bulb is 8w/27w X 2

the tail warning is to tell you when the running light has failed .
when at idle tail warning comes on for me then goes out at speed. comes on when brakes are applied or i coast to a stop.

fix may just be new bulbs, cleaning contact points in holders and connectors up the line.
may also involve clean connectors in charging system from battery to brushes.
could also be indicating an aging battery

I am putting a new tail light on my bike to see if it solves the problem f intermitent warning light.

So this is odd - try applying the front brake and verify brake lights illuminate with no warning, then while holding the front brake depress the rear brake and see if you can duplicate the TAIL warning.

Another easy check for current - remove the Signal fuse and place a DMM in current mode across the fuse contacts. Note the reading and then apply the front brake, current should rise to approximately 4 amps above the previously noted level. While holding the front brake depress the rear brake, current should remain the same or rise just slightly.

Thanks rooster53 I will get my meter tomorrow and give that a try. The bulbs that are in are 3496 Taiwan they were there when I bought the bike. They don't look like a 1157 would fit the socket these seem to be smaller. I just discovered when I looked at the bottom of one of the bulbs and the black insulator has 2 chip on the edge.

you should still test the bulbs to confirm amps and that you get a change with new bulbs

26,9 watts/8.3 watts on the sylvania type 3496 made in taiwan

same base as 1157 Base Bay15d

I did what rooster said to try about pulling the front brake and then pushing the foot brake. When I pull the front brake the taillight comes on, no warning, with the front brake lever is still pulled and I push the foot brake there is no warning light. I took Pollock's advice to upgrade the bulbs to the 2357 bulbs good advice po, tomorrow I will get my meter and do the amp checking

rear switch may be the issue possible the contacts are corroded and causing problem front brake on first would mask this as it is a parrell circuit

so I replaced my tiny tail light at the request of NHSP, with a trailer light with a single 1157 bulb and my tail warning light went out and stayed out.
just thought I would let you know.
