   Is there any way to remove the shiney original spring type line protectors and use them on replacement brake lines.

   Sure. You cut the old lines and take them off, put them on the new lines before the ends are crimped on.
   
   If you bought lines with ends already attached, you can try to wind them around the hose, but the results are uncertain.
