Break apart calipers?

    I had heard you do not want to remove the bolts and separate the two halves of a brake caliper. I am doing a complete rebuild of my front breaks, 85 XJ700. Do I want to separate the halves for cleaning? Or do not want to do this.

    Just did it on my Seca 900. No problem. Just be careful not to lose any seals/ washers Allowed me to push pistons back in easier.
