broken tach cable

    hey guys..

    i have 81 xj650 when i bought the bike its tach cable was broken at the connection to the motor. I ordered on on line, installed it. When the bike is running the tach barely moves if i rev it to what i think would be around 3000ish the tach moves very slow and two only about 1500ish.

    any ideas on problem...

    Could it be that the cable ends are too small???

    I bought cable last year not sure where. But I did not lube the cable. I'll try that.
    I'll check out the dissection pics.
