I just installed an Emgo fairing on my 81 xj650 midnight Maxim.( Your pic looks like an Emgo ). I have Euro- Spec handlebars. I like it and it was easy to install. Sorry no pics! I don't seem able to post.

It has no issues w/ hiway speeds around 65mph, and does not buffet my upper body/helmet. I would recommend!

    My 2c:

If you're doing it for looks, the bullet.

if you're doing it for function, the windshield.

That bullet fairing looks bad-ass, that's one of the only reasons I hate my square headlight!

I have european drags as well
I just hope it does not ugly up my bike too much
at least it is quick removable... I mostly need it for longer
trips.. it is just too much pull on your shoulders at high speeds

    cheers

Pics need to be hosted via a third-party site, and then linked. Otherewise you'll need to upload them to your gallery

Just posted this on an other form I frequent. Posting some of my comments from there:

A fairing will change the looks a lot. I have the LockHart Phillips on mine. This is the same one you reference from Chapperal. In my case I did it mainly to cut down the wind. And this one did keep the wind off my chest and shoulders. But not my head. At 70+ on the highway that is still a big help. Here is the fairing below. You can see the height relative to my sholders. And I can always tuck behind the shield if I wanted to briefly go above a 100.

I will point out that on the bike pictured I have eurobars. The M/C interferes a bit with the fairing. Had to adjust my handle bars further back. The M/C on the XJ's are bit more low profile. But just wanted to point out that the kind of handle bars you have installed may be a factor.

I just ordered one for my '75 Suzuki GT380 after I checked the link to the ad. Very good price!
