I am happy to have found xjbikes.com, what a wonderful community of XJ enthusiasts! I do not currently own a motorcycle, but as you can imagine, I plan on that changing very soon! I used to own a 1982 or 83 Seca XJ550. Man I miss that bike!

I live in Grass Valley, CA. (I've been here bsince 1976) with my wife and poodle. I have held many different jobs. Worked at a car wash, a florist, a car dealership, drug store, hospital house-keeping, 2nd grade school teacher, and just recently finished a 2+2 year college program to get my x-ray technologist's license. (Yes, it's taken me a while to figure out what I want to be when I grow up!)

Anyway, I love this website and the people here are awesome! Thanks for letting me be a part of this community!

Never mind. I found the pics here http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=5400.html

If there are any newer ones I'd love to see them.

When I saw the first pic I laughed and "That is too cool!"

Very nice work, good paint. I like the stars and stripes on the tank.
Are you getting to ride it much?

The pics suck, but all I have for now. Next to come is a better exhaust, and possibility a raked tree which should make it look a bit better.

For sure wiht the first fender you had - the cruiser look, I wonder how mufflers like these:
    Dennis Kirk shorty mufflers
    would work?

Ya, they are nice, I'll look into them, I just don't want to have to reject the carbs with the new pipes. As you can see I have taken off the other fender, I did not like it, and went with a more chopper look.

    Thanks guys!

I think it has 34k on it, but I am not sure, I had to replace the engine because the bottom end was going, so the engine I have in now, I have no idea how many miles are on it, or the condition of the internal components, but as long as she runs strong that's fine with me! lol.

The max speed I have had it up to is maybe around 70km/h, one of my dads friends took it for a quick boot and said he got it up to 120km/h! So I can't wait lol.

Damn fine looking bike. I think you posted before about cleaning up the look at the back of the tank.

Hard to see what is going on under the seat in the pics. If you just need to cover the rear lip of the tank maybe you can have the local upholstery shop (or yourself for that matter) make sometthing to go in there.

lol, see that steel plate welded on the back of the fender?? lol. I was thinking about adding some padding to it...

But I am more or a solo man until my HD Vrod arrives (maybe 15 years from now? lol)

Glad you all like it, hope I get the same reaction from friends that see it at my school.

And yes, I did post these pics up in my "How to fix this?" post. And, I am going to try and get to see what I can do about the back of the tank and the front of the seat.

IMHO you could make a big improvement by making the lip on the rear of the tank black. With it matching the tank it really harshly breaks the profile of the tank.

So just paint the lip of the tank black and it would look ok?
