The oil level switch/light has always given me grief. I think it keeps the starter motor from turning when the start button is pushed. Tha oil level is always correct and changed often. From my 1982 seca shop manual it shows a single wire going to the oil level switch and then to ground. I don't want to cut wires and do a hack job, but if I run this wire to ground, will it cure my "no start" problem? Has anyone else had this problem? I need a simple fix, because I'm not going to pull my stock exhaust system off to get at that irritating switch. Thanks a bunch!

That's not your problem. The switch only operates the light, it doesn't effect whether the engine starts or runs.

The light will come on when cranking (it's a bulb check). Disconnecting the level switch will keep the light from coming on if a low oil level is indicated, but the bulb will still light while cranking.

I agree with this, too. It's just a light...

    Not connected to your starter.

May not be an easy fix, but you do need some more troubleshooting.
