    Hi guys,

I'm starting the process of refreshing my handle bar controls with something a bit more minimalist. I was planning on buying one of these clutch levers + master cylinder from Dim City Cycles.

    Clutch Lever:

    MC:

However, I noticed that the new lever doesn't have the clutch lever switch to it. Do I understand properly that the only function of the clutch switch is to be able to start the bike in other gears than neutral while the clutch lever is pulled in? Any experience in bypassing the switch? Any concerns?

you can just twist the two wires together at the connector in the headlight bucket. down side bike will start in gear.
you can unplug the connector in the headlight bucket and leave it unjumped. down side bike will only start in neautral.
no bump starting , no starting in gear when you stall at a light You must find neutral

You may or may not pass inspection

    Inspection, whats an inspection????

Sorry, I come from the land of limited regulation...

Actually I agree bypassing safety switches can create an unsafe condition.

i don't have any safety switches, if i stall at a light i'm out of gas but i could just pull the clutch and start it.
Cyfer, go to a bone yard and get some levers and master off of a late model sport bike, it'll cost half as much and you know what you have

out of curousity, Doesn't the bore size of the orifice in the master cylinder matter?

The bore yes the little hole in the bottom that bubbles come out of when bleeding the brakes no
Most mast cyl have a size on the body eg. 9/16, 5/8 ,13mm etc match up with what you have for them to work correctly.
Too small and there is too much lever travel resulting in maybe bottoming the lever against the grip before you stop the bike
Too big and lever has very little travel and less mechanical advantage and poor "feel" so you have to squeeze the he// out of it to stop you bike:(

right.. which is what i thought, so scrounging a bone yard wouldn't be ideal unless you knew what you were looking for is what I was getting at.
