    Hello all,

Recently aquired a 550 maxim however have a few issue:

    1) When pressing the start button on bike, my clutch cable gets hot -- is this normal due to it serving as a ground?

    2) When trying to find clutch cable / throttle cable replacement I can't find a source where they are the right length--the ones I have brought are slightly too long. So if you know proper sizing or know a retailer let me know.

    3) Lastly, I need a throttle cable mount that attaches to my carburator (previous owner didn't have one). When searching online, I only find the mount for the choke cable (which I have). Below I have attached an image of the one I need.

Any information from you all would be greatly appriaciated,
    Thanks

Sounds like a ground cable problem. Follow the big black wire from the battery negative terminal. It should attach to the back of the case. If it goes to the frame instead, this would make your clutch cable a ground for the starter.

For the correct length clutch cable, talk to @chacal at XJ4EVER. Just send an email to info@xj4ever.com describing what you need. I have the same aftermarket overly long cable and the stock length is on my list for my next order from Len.

He'll probably be your best source for the carb bracket also.
