Hey guys, I'm looking for a cafe racer style seat some of them that say xj650 dont exactly look like they would fit the bike (because of the differing height in frame) does anyone have one that they bought from somewhere online that they know for a fact fit well?

    Thanks!

most cafe seats are made by the builder of the bike starting with cardboad to make a mock seat pan

    Hi,

I bought a cafe racer seat from Dime City Cycles. They've got a few different shapes and sizes. I found one that worked for my XJ900 project.
Here's a pic of the bas PLUS the upholstered seat that sits on top. IMG_9878.JPG

There are two models of XJ650; the Maxim, and the Seca. Both have different frames at the seat-rails. The seats you're seeing online are most likely for the Seca, or require that you frame be cut and re-built to suit the seat.

I bought a used seat for my 81 650 maxim on eBay for $50. The upholstery was crap- stripped it and used the seat pan to have upholstered to my liking. Fits like stock seat with original hardware.
