California tank?

    Hello all this is my first post, anyways I have been trying to piece together a xj550. I have a question about the tank. I assume it is a cali tank beacuse it fits perfect but has an extra port. I think the port is the "rollover valve". My question is can i use the tank? I believe carb is not pulling gas out of the tank unless it is reving pretty high. The thing is petcock seems to flow fine on PRI but does not smell like gas when Im trying to start. I get it start by squirtingt gas in carb then it seems to pull gas. Ill try to post a pic as i have need seen a tank like this on any xj550 pic ive seen.[​IMG]

    That's because it's not a 550 tank.

    It's a RADIAN tank; it only fits your frame because the Radian used the XJ550 Maxim's frame.

    Not sure about the "extra" port; very well could be part of an evap system.

    Thanks bigfitz! I look at 80's yamahas for hours and did not find it. Ill do some more research to see if I can mod it.
