I purchased all the LED's to convert my instrument cluster over. I have the bike (1982 Seca) completely disassembled right now (no power) and want to finish the instrument cluster this weekend. The problem I have is that LED 194 style bulbs have a printed circuit board and can only be installed one way for them to function properly. I haven't got power to the instruments and am unsure what direction to install the lights. Any suggestions?

I just thought of how I may be able to figure it out myself. Does the instrument cluster have a single common ground wire going to it? If so I should be able to just check continuity through it to the bulbs one at a time to determine which is the ground side and then hook them up.

I ran into the same thing when I installed them too. If it were me, I would find a 12v source to hook up (temperarily hook up the battery?) Then as you plug in all the bulbs, you can turn them over if they don't work right away. That would take less time than trying to figure out which side of each curcuit is the ground side. Just a thought >PD<

I think the black wire is the common ground on those. I like PD's idea, too. You could even use a battery charger for the power source if needed. He's right in that it would probably be much quicker.
