any ideas about where i could get a higher lift cam with shims....
and what about the idea of fabricating my own cold air intake manifolds?

Megacycle has a good grind for the Xj550. Uses stock pistons and springs. Has an increase of .042 intake and .071 exhaust and an increase of 11 degrees intake an 16 degrees exhaust on duration. Total specs are .350 lift and 244 degrees duration on a 107 degree lobe center. Will run about $388 on customer core regrind. As for porrting, the stock porting is pretty good, but a cometent shop could improve on it. It might cost a bit for a small gain in performance. cruzerjd
