Figured i'd ask this question... I have so many can's of stuff laying around. When putting a valve cover back on, could i use serpentine belt dressing instead of the high tack spray to *stick* the gasket to the valve cover? If I can save my self 10 bucks by asking a dumb question it's worth it right? :) thanks!

Don't hurt to try. I used permatex black silicone on my original and it doesn't leak a bit.

The Cam Cover is not supposed to be installed using Sealant.

The Cover is designed to be Removable.
The Gasket simply needs to be installed on the Cover and then: Oiled!.

You install the Gasket in the Cover so it wont fall-out being put-on.
Apply a coat of Oil to the Gasket Mating Surface.
Apply a coat of Oil to the Cylinder Head.

    Position the Cover and Tighten-down ... s-l-o-w-l-y!
The Gasket will Spread-Out as it compresses,
    Oil tight.
    I won't leak.
It is an example of Precision Engineering.
The Cam Cover Rubber Donuts apply enough force upon the Cover to prevent it from leaking.

You shouldn't need to apply anything sticky or goo-pee to the Cam Cover at all.
    Just a little oil.
Like putting a new battery in your watch.
The Cover fits on nice and tight. Waterproof.
    Hold the RTV.

    Cheers guys,

I had no intention on making the cam cover non-removable :D, no such thing as a stupid question right? At any rate thanks for fielding another, next week should be fun!

If you think you need something to hold it in place use silicone grease.
