I rebuilt the carbs on my 1982 XJ750 Maxim and it starts and idles perfectly, but cannot rev it up. With just the choke it will Rev up to about 4500rpm. If I twist the throttle very slowly I can get it to Rev up to about 4500rpm. If I twist the throttle quickly, it kills the engine. I have my idler screws set at about 3 turns out and have tried other settings, but the same results. What am I doing wrong?

are your throttle slides moving smoothly, these can be tested (with carbs off the bike) by blowing down the oval hole at the top of the intake side of the carb mouth, the slides should move up quickly and return a little slower.
are the rubber diaphragms sealed correctly, at the carb hat?

I had done the air test before putting them on the bike and they all looked correct. The rubber diaphragms all looked good and were seated properly with the notch in the casting.

And you have visually verified the main jets are completely clear and the emulsion tube pinholes are all open? How about the sealing washer at the bottom of the main jets where they meet the body itself and the float levels being set using a level surface? Did you remove the air jets under the diaphragm cover and if so did they go back into their correct locations? Believe it or not the service manual is WRONG on their placement and this is detailed in the carburetor section of this forum.

Starving for fuel? Not too sure how much fuel you have in the tank? Is the petcock okay? Turn it to prime and see if the issue goes away. By the Vid, are you showing us without showing us the cables are in the correct place?

Sounds like a good job cleaning the carbs are the bike fires right up.

How long has it been? If you don't know, check/adjust them.
