I took my bike to work today for the first time since getting it back together. I had rebuilt my carbs. It starts fine revs up good, but when I ride it only accelerates smoothly with under 1/4 throttle any more and it misses and won't accelerate smoothly at all. Immediately I thought the spark plug caps but they passed 5 -5.5 ohms. So maybe I am starving it for fuel so I check my float heights and they are fine too. I never did clean out my petcock maybe its that. When I come to a stop after cruising for a bit and throttle up to down shift it seems it wants to die. any suggestions?

Sounds like it's starving for fuel or running way to lean. Maybe check your choke cable? Sometimes thell jam up and stay open a little bit which would make your bike run like that.

I found the source of my problem, I pushed up on all the slides and one didn't seem to have any suction. The diamphram wasn't sealed all the way around #1 carb. Getting good at this now can get the carbs in and out in less than 15 minutes...I set the float levels with a clear tube, how high should they be? I set mine to the top of the float bowl.

    That's a skooch high.

Right about to the line between the Bottom of the Washer and the Top of the Screw holding the Float Bowls on the body is Primo ... if you can get it!
