Cant get past 3rd gear

    So on the way home from work tonight i stopped to fill up the seca 750.bike is running great but i cant get past 3rd gear.bike has 31k on it. Im running castrol 20/50. Any thoughts on the possibilitys i order a manual but i haven't gotten it yet.

    It physically won't shift into third gear or you don't have the power to get it past third gear? You might have a worn transmission fork or something has broken and is jamming it.

    It physically wont go into 3rd. But if its on the center stand. I can rock the wheel and i can shift thru all five gears.

    Could be the clutch. Are you using motorcycle specific oil? Automotive oil is bad news in these bikes. It causes all kinds of problems with the clutch. .

    UH OH, PO is at it again....but I confess, that was my first thought too....lol

    Be VERY leery about riding a bike that isn't shifting all the way through the gears.....I have seen gearboxes at the track cause major problems(read:crash) when the offending piece relocates and locks the rear wheel. If it's not your clutch which I kind of doubt, check the shift shaft for lateral play and see how it shifts when you hold it to one end.....otherwise, you migh be looking at a weekend project to split the cases to straighten it out.
