new xj owner here- long of the short - first time i cleaned the carbs i bench synced them(as far as i know) with a wire method i found in a forum here. correct me please if im wrong but a "bench sync" would just be setting the butterflies... so i came up with the idea to use a caliper(goes to 0.000 in.) to gauge to distance exactly from the face of the intake to the bottom of the butterfly. let me know if this is an ok sync to do for now until i can vaccum sync them!

Hi welcome Jesso, not 100% sure what you mean, but you need to get all the b'flys open exactly the same & it needs to be just a tiny chink of light, when you hold them up & sight through.
Make sure there is enough thread on the idle screw to be able to back it right off & shut those b'flys down closed.

Bench sync is not a substitute for a vacuum sync. You'll still need to do a vacuum sync.
