So just bought a 85xj700x. 42k Got a good deal alittle rough
Faded paint chrome dull seats split but
    Ran (little rough) but ran
So I take it to the local Yamaha dealer/repair shop
They look it over say needs carbs cleaned
About 400. I figure ok go ahead.
They open up number two and find the float pin casting broke
And tell me I need a new carb but problem is
Can't find one. Told me to search for full Rack because less
    Labor
Anyone know where to even start looking
And is this bike worth spending probably 1k after
I buy carbs and have them done.
Now the start I was hoping for when I bought
    This bike

That's the problem with taking it to "experts" to have it done, you should be billing them for the replacement carb if they broke it! Plus the fact they said buying a full rack would be "less labour" points to the fact that they aren't going to do a proper job of cleaning them. (look at the church of clean thread on here & you'll see what a proper job takes, labour intensive but easy enough to do yourself as long as you work methodically & don't rush)

Try XJ4ever (User "Chacal" on here, or the link top right of the page) he has most bits for our bikes.

    Welcome by the way.

EDIT-: here's a link to the church of clean (how to clean your carbs once, properly & once only) http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14692.html written by Chacal as well so you can find his profile there to PM him about a carb body :)
