I need to do a good carb cleaning on the xj750. Any ideas how much that would cost to get done? I'm sure every shop is different, but still just looking for a ball park

count on a shop charging you for 4 to 8 hours labor, if you can find a shop that will do it. Most won't because it is so old. Labor cost could easily add up to 500$ or more . Parts would be extra on top of that. 4 basic carb kits cost around 100$. So you are looking at 500 to 1000 for someone else to clean your carbs.
Do it yourself and save big bucks.

Do it yourself, and you will know it is right. Get a gallon of Berryman carb cleaner Autozone. Get some containers or ziplock baggies , take pictures and disassemble . Break rack , remove all seals and put carb body in cleaner for an hour. Take out use a tooth brush clean body , blow out passages. Reassemble with new seals ( xj4ever has all parts required ie shaft seals bowl gasket etc) The tools required ujs screw driver, needle nose pliers , a small straight blade screw driver. Go to the church of clean it is not difficult to do this. Good luck

eh I would replace all hardware with socket cap screws instead of buying ujs screw drivers.

I paid just over $200 for mine, which includes all gaskets and new jets. I simply didn't have the time to do them myself or I would have done so. I still had to take the carbs out, reinstall them, resync and tune after it was done. I still have work to do as I don't have a colortune and need to check the valve clearance, then borrow a manometer to resync again.
