I've seen on here that you can clean carbs with boiling lemon juice but is it possible to put a rack of carbs(after taking the slides, floats, jets, etc.. out) in lemon juice and not hurt the o-rings and v-rings in the fuel pipes and butterfly shafts?

Or do I still need to fully take the rack apart to do this?

I ended up using hot (not boiling) pine-sol water to clean mine and it came out a LOT better than using carb cleaner. I mention this because when I was trying to clean mine I seem to remember reading something about the lemon juice making the aluminum more prone to rust?

I did the lemon juice thing in a big pot, so I did not have to pull the rack apart. I took everything apart except the butterfly shafts & fuel pipes, then dropped the whole rack into the hot (but not boiling) juice. Left it there for a good 20 min, then gave a good scrubbing everywhere I could reach with a good stiff parts cleaner brush. After that put it into a pot of lukewarm water mixed with about 4 tablespoons of baking soda (to neutralize the acid) and then blasted everything and everywhere I could with 100psi compressed air.

Seems to be fine so far - rode it on the weekend and sure seems to be just fine. Not getting any leaks at the butterfly seals.

One of the users posted a link for a sale to an ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight that heats the solution. He was using a diluted simple green solution. I picked up the cleaner ($55), and ran a couple of bowls through it yesterday. Seems to work like a charm.

You could dump a couple of carbs in it but not the whole rack.

Did you drop in the whole thing or take it apart first?
