Some parts ... you can't find; any more.

But, there are some very interesting treatments and beautification coatings available that make rusted-over Carb Hats really nice looking.

    Powder Coating

Some others that the Forum Members have had done and look really sweet.
I hope they'll respond with the process and photos for you,

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
ive beadblasted them and then hit with a couple of different grades of sandpaper before using automotive sandable primer followed by high temp high gloss paint...

the chromed hats, can usually be cleaned up PRETTY GOOD with some oil, 0000 steelwool and then using a good chrome polish on them. if its not too deeply pitted, they look nearly new. i dont necessarily want new on my 30yr old bikes since im not doing a complete restoration but they look 'really good' for their age...

XJ4Ever has them in chrome/natural like original, or you can go all chrome, and I believe he also carries gold ones for the Midnite bikes.

I had a set powder-coated gloss black myself, for the Mikunis on my Seca.

WHOA. Polock my friend, that is a sheer genius idea. Maybe not Plexiglas per se; but some sort of tough, clear, blow-molded (or injected) plastic or polyester resin. They'd stay clean on the inside, look how clean hats are inside even on NASTY carbs. Outside, it's just a matter of wiping them off now and then (that's all I have to do with the powder coated ones.)

It would be sooo cool to be able to watch the diaphragms moving up and down.

Send Mikuni, Hitachi and Keihin a letter. Maybe somebody'll bite. It really is a brilliant idea; what about in various colors, the "pimp my ride" crowd would eat it up! Figure out how to put a LIGHT in there and they'd really sell.
