Bringing a Maxim 750 back to life and have some issues. It was running when I got it, but needed the carbs cleaned. I'm no expert but have done a few sets successfully. When reinstalled, the bike fired right up but zoomed to around 5000 rpm and stayed there, even with the "choke" completely off. After some investigating, I disconnected the "choke" cable at the carbs and it fired and idled around 1000. But then I had gas dripping out of the air housing. Carbs back off to reclean the float needles and adjust the floats. Carbs back on (without the "choke" cable) idled fine, no gas leakage, but turn the throttle and absolutely no difference. Never seen that one before. Note: When cleaning, I do not disassemble the rack or soak the whole unit. I clean the jets individually and shoot air through as best I can. So two questions:
    1. What gives with the "choke" cable? I see no adjustment, top or bottom, and it was fine before the cleaning.
    2. Whats up with no change for throttle action? Did something get plugged up on the second cleaning?

when you gave it throttle, it didnt raise the rpm?
sounds like you may have done a switch-a-roo on the cables.

did you reinstall the mounting brackets for the choke and throttle in the correct position?
