I have a 1985 xj Maxim 750. Does anyone know the thread tap size of the air/mixture screws on 1985 maxim 750 hitachi carbs. I have a set that I am trying to fix for a friend that the number two carb has stripped threads for the mixture screw so it will not seat all the way down. Also do you know the top two air jet sizes there are 70 and 210 in there now with 110 main fuel jet. The bike will run great at low end but mid to high it dies out and looses power. I have done a compression test and its 155 across the board. The tank has been coated with new gasket set and plenty of fuel from the petcock no blockage. The fuel levels are all set to 3mm wet set method. any comments or questions just let me know I'm sure you guys know a lot more then me on these yamahas. Thanks for your help in the matter.

Chacal (xj4ever) can give you all the specs. he might also have the thread size, but if not, you should be able to determine it from the screw itself.

The best would be to remove it and match the thread pitch up with a thread pitch tool that comes with a tap set.

Thanks ill send him a PM. Also I checked and I think its a 6mmx .5 thread count but I wanted to double check with someone that may have had the same problem. Thanks for your time
