They are O-Rings. They flatten with age.

Did they change the seal type after a certain year? When I first worked on my 81, the carbs had O-Rings on the fuel joints. And I was the first person to get into the carbs on this bike.

Ooops, my bad, that oldenheimer's is kickin' in again...........I thought we were discussing throttle shaft seals.......everyone one else but me is absolutely correct, o-rings are used on the fuel supply pipes and inlet t-fitting (on some carbs; most Mikuni models did not use o-rings on the fuel inlet t-fitting).
